Native Bee and Pollinator Support

Exquisite Gardens. Timeless Elegance. Your Sanctuary Shaped by Nature.

Native Bee Consulting and Ecological Integration is for clients who want their landscape to support life in a meaningful way, without sacrificing refinement. This service strengthens pollinator function and overall ecological performance through plant-forward design, habitat structure, and stewardship practices, often supported by quietly integrated hardscaping that guides water, defines edges, and keeps the garden composed.

Begin with a brief phone conversation. On-site consultations are scheduled when we’re aligned.

What This Service Is

This is not simply “more flowers.” Native bee support requires the right plant communities, bloom timing, and habitat structure across the seasons. I assess your property’s current ecological value, identify gaps, and design an integrated approach that supports native bees and beneficial insects while keeping the landscape intentional, legible, and beautiful.

This service can be integrated into a full master plan and planting plan, or applied to an existing garden that needs ecological strengthening.

Who This Is For

Native Bee Consulting and Ecological Integration is ideal when you:

  • Want your garden to actively support native bees and beneficial insects

  • Care about biodiversity, but want a landscape that still reads refined and designed

  • Want season-long bloom planning, not a short burst of color

  • Have an existing garden that is beautiful, but lacks ecological function

  • Are planning a landscape renovation and want ecology integrated from the beginning

  • Want to align planting, maintenance, and subtle structure so habitat value increases over time

  • Want water and drainage strategies (including rain gardens) to contribute to ecology and beauty

What We Evaluate

Depending on the site, the work may begin with an assessment of:

  • Bloom timing and seasonal gaps (early spring through late autumn)

  • Existing plant community composition and diversity

  • Nesting opportunities and habitat structure (ground, stems, edges, cover)

  • Sun, soil, moisture, and microclimates that influence pollinator value

  • Areas where lawn can be reduced and habitat expanded

  • How paths, edges, and quietly integrated hardscaping can support clarity and function

Native Bee Shelter Management

For clients who want hands-on native bee support, I offer native bee shelter installation and management backed by more than 15 years of stewardship. I manage curated shelters designed for species such as mason bees, bumble bees, and leafcutter bees, paired with planting and habitat strategy so the garden provides the season-long resources that make shelters successful.

Shelter management may include:

  • Placement strategy based on sun, wind, and local conditions

  • Seasonal setup and maintenance aligned with bee life cycles

  • Health-focused stewardship to support strong emergence and occupancy

  • Integration with bloom succession planning so forage is available when needed

  • Guidance on simple practices that support pollinators while keeping the garden refined

Over time, clients often notice a stronger presence of native bees on the property and improved pollination, especially in spring-blooming trees and shrubs, with a noticeable lift in fruiting and summer flower production as the garden matures.

Client comfort and safety

Native bees are typically gentle, and many are solitary and focused on foraging rather than interacting with people. I help clients understand what they’re seeing and how to live comfortably alongside pollinators, including practical placement and stewardship choices that reduce unwanted interaction.

While no outdoor environment can be guaranteed sting-free, we plan thoughtfully and prioritize your comfort, especially for households with allergies or heightened concern.

Where This Fits in The Coan Method™

Native Bee Consulting and Ecological Integration can be woven throughout The Coan Method™. It may be incorporated into consulting, master planning, and planting design, and it often becomes a long-term lens for how the landscape is maintained and refined.

This service most often supports:

  • Step 1: Consulting (site assessment and priorities)

  • Step 4: Planting Design (ecological plant communities and bloom succession)

  • Step 7: Evolution Management (maintenance timing and ongoing refinement)

Investment Guidance

Planning ranges vary by scope, site conditions, and materials.

  • Garden-only projects typically begin around $15,000 to $20,000

  • Gardens incorporating light hardscape often begin near $35,000

  • Many residential clients invest $30,000 to $80,000

  • Larger estate properties are often developed in thoughtful phases beginning at $150,000 and beyond
