Bespoke, Nature-Inspired Gardens, Guided by The Coan Method™

Hello, I’m Stephen Coan.I design bespoke, nature-inspired gardens and landscapes for private residences, estates, and select commercial, institutional, and public settings, plant-forward gardens with quietly integrated hardscaping and clear four-season legibility, rooted in horticulture, ecology, and craft.

If you are considering a project, please begin by completing the initial inquiry form using the Begin the Conversation button below.

The First Step

Each project begins with an Ask the Expert Call, a brief, complimentary first conversation to explore your property, goals, and mutual fit.

If aligned, the next step may be a paid consulting appointment to begin The Coan Method™, a hands-on process for creating horticulturally significant, ecologically rich, and deeply personal landscapes. Most projects unfold over a season or multiple years, and availability is limited.

Availability

Stephen is often on site, in the field, or studying plants in their natural habitats. For that reason, inquiries are reviewed personally once or twice per week.

If you are considering a project, please click Begin the Conversation to complete the initial inquiry form and share your project location, goals, timing, and anticipated investment range.

A limited number of new clients are accepted each season. If your project appears aligned, Stephen will follow up directly to recommend the most appropriate next step.
